Padraig has 39 years of global business experience, managing projects and delivering executive training in 58 countries and 32 US states. A company owner since 2005, he has held CEO and C-suite roles across procurement, business development, operational excellence and change management, and is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Business Agility mentor, Scrum expert and project management lecturer. He leads Karv Training's in-person delivery in Ireland.
Padraig learned process on the floor of a computer assembly plant in Swords that ran on Lean principles long before the term was fashionable. Six years there, then the UK, where he found that every organisation has its own version of chaos. The decades since have taken him through CEO and executive roles, procurement and business development, and operational excellence and continuous improvement programmes across insurance and banking, commercial electronics, telecoms, automotive, medical devices, instrumentation, e-commerce and digital marketing.
Since 2017 he has focused on Irish organisations taking on operational excellence and business process transformation, blending Lean, Agile and Scrum, Design Thinking and Lean Startup into something a company can actually run. He lectures in project management, holds patents, has competed internationally with Toastmasters and has keynoted technology events across Europe and the US. His sessions are structured and dynamic, built so that people learn at every stage.
That background fits Article 4, which is at bottom a change-management problem: an organisation has to look honestly at the tools it runs, decide who needs what, and write down what it did. That is the work Padraig has done in other forms for nearly four decades, from Green Belt cohorts at Google's European headquarters to family-run Irish firms.

Does Article 4 cover contractors and agencies working for us?
Yes. Article 4 covers people who deal with AI on your behalf whether or not they are on your payroll, so your measures should reach contractors, service providers and agencies too, in proportion to the systems they touch.

Does the EU AI Act apply to us if staff only use ChatGPT?
Yes. The European Commission's Q&A says a company whose employees use ChatGPT for tasks like writing or translating must comply with Article 4, and should inform staff about specific risks such as hallucination.
